HowTo: Wire-based snowflake  (David Rawsthorne)

Step 6 : Add Lights

I wanted the snowflake to be dark so as I added the lights (125 string of 24V lights - half a 250 lamp string), then covered in black electrical tape.

Because electrical tape is only partly waterproof, I also considered painting, but ended up wrapping the lot in bare copper wire. This actually gives a nice glittery effect that you can't see in the photo's.

Once I had completed the entire snowflake, I painted it in some leftover clear outside laquer I had left. this should keep the copper shiny as well as help hold the tape better.

Step 7 : Completed snowflake

Heres the completed item. I learnt a lot about spacing the lights from this one, so the next ones should be better and more even, but this is still pretty effective from a distance.
