HowTo: Compact 4 Port SSR Box  (Frank Kostyun)

    << Previous Page       Page 1    Page 2

Step 6 : Attach the outlets

Attach a spade connector to each output wire, and make a short 5" wire with spade connectors on each end (for the neutral)

Attach the neutral from the extension cord to the right outlet (there is more room in the box on this side.)

Also don't forget to break the tab between the two hot connectors.

Step 7 : Finish it up.

From here, you will just need to attach the 5/8" mud ring to the box, and then screw everything together. Note the RJ45 jack on the bottom of the box.

Also note - I have welded 12" pieces of steel rod to the sides of the box for stakes. This allows it to be hammered into the ground, and stay standing.

Step 8 : Project Costs

Outlet box: $0.92 (Home Depot)
Mud Ring: $1.15 (Home Depot)
SSR Relays: $1.50 each (eBay)
Extention Cord: $2.12 (WalMart)
Circuit Boards: $2.00 for 6 boards (eBay)
Connectors: $4.96 for 100 (Home Depot)
Wire: $1.40 for 8 feet (Home Depot)
Metal: $2.50 for 4 lbs (scrap) (Industrial Metal Supply - local metal shop)
Outlets: $3.96 for 10 (Home Depot)

Approximate Cost for each box: $12.00
