HowTo: Belkin Tunecast Auto Universal FM transmitter Mod  (Mustang B0ss)

Step 1 :

Model F8M066

NOTE: Some items may require a small amount of adhesive to re-attach them.
1. There are 5 screws located under the various covers on the front of the unit.
a. Remove the lens covering the display screen by prying out the sides with a thin screw driver. There will also be a small amount of adhesive at the top as well. This will reveal 2 screws.
b. Peel the center up\down buttons off to reveal the center screw.
c. The left & right buttons are in an assembly that loops around the bottom of the unit. Prying up on the bottom first will unlatch it from the base. After that, sliding it upwards will remove them the rest of the way. This will reveal the lower 2 screws.
2. After removing all of the screws, you will be able to remove the plastic cover revealing the circuit board.
3. As noted in other Belkin FM transmitter mods, there is a “little black box” that reduces the signal strength of the device. Soldiering a wire to the side of the box opposite of the antenna will boost the signal strength significantly.

Step 2 :

Note the tabs on each side of the screen cover & the tabs on the left\right button assembly.

Step 3 :

Note how the lower tabs are smaller & clip the buttons in. The larger upper tabs need to be slid out for removal after the smaller lower ones are released.

Step 4 :

Note the location of the screws after removing the cover & buttons.

Step 5 :

Black box circled in red with new white antenna wire soldered to it. Note – The red wire is the current internal antenna. This could be removed from the left & reattached to the new location if you would like to continue to have an internal antenna instead. I did not do this because I figured I would get a better signal with an external antenna.
