HowTo: Modified 128 Channel Hill controller with 6 channel remote outlets

Step 6 : Daisy Daisy, Plug me up into.....
|
| | ok enough corny titles,
this is the finished box with a daisy chain receptical. Some forums were asking about feeding thru boxes. The way this works, is I lay an extension cord to the box, plug up the box, and run my cat 5. Then, if i have more channels to control at that location,(needing more cat 5 lines obviously) I can simply plug the next SSR box into the first one, and so forth. The cord hanging out is "ALWAYS ON". You could also plug in another say, 50 foot extension cord and carry power on to another part of your yard or display. Now, power capability. I used a 14 gauge heavy duty cord for this one, you just cut it about 2 foot from end, then wire nut it back together inside the box when you connect your taps for the board and outlets. 14 gauge will handle 15 amps safely. This was a proof-of-concept prototype. I found the 14 to be a little tough to work with in tight places. All the rest of my duty boxes will use 16 gauge, which will do between 11 and 13 amps(thats total power consumed- WHAT THAT SSR box draws AND ANYTHING connected to the live outlet. So connect wisely.
