HowTo: Make an Adjustable Preview you can work with on Vixen!  (Ken Gifford)

Step 1 : Download Google Sketchup

Go to http://www.sketchup.com/ and download a free version of Sketchup.

Step 2 : Make a Template

Using Sketchup make a 3-d Representation of your house and yard. Add the items to it (candy canes, bushes, mini-trees, mega-tree, ect) that you will have in your display.

Step 3 : make this drawing usable.

Because sketchup uses its own file type which is not usable in Vixen, take a screen shot of your drawing (while sketchup is full screen) by hitting your Ctrl Button and then the PRT SCR button. Save your file in sketchup, close it and open windows paint (or something similar) and hit Ctrl V to paste it into paint. You can now save it as a JPG file to use in Vixen.

Step 4 : Add it to Vixen and paste in your controls.

Open Vixen, then click on Attached plugins, then adjustable preview and then Plugin setup. You can then load the JPG file with the "Load Image" button on the Setup page. Add all the little dots that represent your lights and save it. Your good to go! So there you have it, a sneak peak at next years setup for me. 128 Channels for 07', first your computerized.

Step 5 : Helping hand.

If you need any help, just drop me a line @ biffklg (AT) Charter (DOT) net or IM me at biffklg69 and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Thanks!
