If you are looking for some Christmas holiday sequencing tips, many good ideas are waiting for you Under our "How To" section.
I started here looking for information on how to build a controller and Solid State Relays (SSRs). I have been using the Hill 320 controller for my Fifth year now with no Major problems with the controller or the SSRs. I do though have some suggestions to make building this controller easier and less expensive.
Be warned if you are not a patient individual or don't possess moderate soldering skills or have a modicum amount of knowledge about AC current. This can be a large lesson in frustration. Errors in construction can cause fried circuits, computers and or houses. This hobby takes TIME, Patience, and Love.
Believe me the feedback you get from the people who visit your display is payment enough. You get a rare opportunity to make complete strangers happy and feel like a child again. I have had people literally dancing in the street in front of my display and singing to the music.
If you are wondering on how to get started, you can start small.
I have a kit I sell "at cost". It controls 12 channels for $35. The more people I have order the less it will cost. I make no money on this. I just want to increase the Christmas decorating community. The kit ONLY includes the components to build a 12 channel controller and 14 SSRs. The hardware such as AC cords, AC outlets, gangboxes, power supplies, DB25 male, and container for you controller are NOT included. But are all available at Radio Shack and ANY big or small Hardware store. I will included a step by step instructions on how to build the controller and SSRs. I will give you all my sequences and songs (that is a real big time saver). The Sequencing software is free. Yes completely FREE It is call VIXEN. There are no questions no email adresses needed you just go to: http://www.vixenlights.com/
and D/L the program, that is it.
I will even start the first two channels of construction so you can follow my lead on both the controller and the SSRs. If you need help I am available through Skype and cell. If you do not want to build your own then you can buy Light O Rama (LOR) By WOW lights. It is way more expensive but you do not have to worry about construction. I have experience with that system too if you need help. No prob. You can see my display here: http://www.youtube.com/user/crunchburybeast
Using the Hill320.
or here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkfsulMG4Gc&feature=related
using LOR. That Is LORAIN, Ohio this will be my Third year using LOR. I have tons of sequences for that system too.
